What customers say?

“ Aburi Shime Saba: (5/5) The aburi shime saba is the best thing on the menu. It’s lightly poached and the caramelized sugar on top adds the perfect contrast of texture and flavor. I’ve been here a few times to try the appetizers, but the MUST GET item is still this saba. Uzumakiya Udon: (4/5) The Uzumakiya Udon is good, the noodles are chewy, not overcooked; and the broth is flavorful. The other toppings leave something to be desired, so if you want to be satisfied, order the Oxtail instead. (Although it’s gotten quite expensive) ”

“ Uzumakiya is located nearby TPTea. Parking is around the lot but in front of the store maybe hard Overall a great sit-down Udon experience. The waiters were very attentive and very friendly. Their plating is great and aesthetically pleasing. Udon and karaage were very pleasant and very filling as well Overall would recommend! ”

“ Uzumakiya is beyond special. It serves up perhaps one of the best, if not the best, udon in the Bay Area. It's located in an unsuspecting plaza not near to anything. You'd hardly notice it unless it wasn't for Google Maps. The down-to-earth setting and the run-down buildings simply set your mind to be blown away when you taste their udons. Let's first talk about the broth. Standard dashi broth is solid, has good body, and isn't overly sweet or salty. But we were absolutely blown away by the ox-tail broth. This is a one-of-a-kind broth that you cannot find nor replace anywhere in the Bay Area. The noodles. These are not your traditional round, thick udon noodles. They're almost a hybrid between a regular straight somen or ramen, but absolutely has the stringy texture of a udon. Absolutely satisfying. World class. And then the condiments. The beef chashu is so well done that you almost feel like it is a boiled pork belly. It is soft, it's not as fatty, and it melts in your mouth. The lotus root crisps... wow. They complement the udon texture perfectly. And the marinated beef sukiyaki for the niku udon is just done right. Sweetly savory. Often when a restaurant gets a 4.5 star on Google, it struggles to live up to its ratings. Uzumakiya is the opposite. I don't think the 4.5 stars does justice. Considering the pricepoint of $14 for a bowl of world-class delicious udon, I'd give this joint a 6 or a 7. Amazing feat by the owners and will absolutely return. ”

“ PLEASE DON’T CHANGE THE UDON NOODLES! I really hope the restaurant can reconsider the recent change to their udon noodles. While the current noodles are still good, the previous ones were on a completely different level—they had a unique texture that elevated the entire dish. The overall taste of the udon is noticeably different now. Personally, I would even be willing to pay extra just to have the old noodles back. I sincerely hope the owners will take this feedback into serious consideration, because those original noodles made the udon truly exceptional. ”

“ New update... again. Yummy! Friendly. They now have a rewards card you can get punched on each visit. I love the dipping udon. Beer and relaxing music... like a relaxing spa visit. The guy that helped me was just perfect. Friendly. Helpful. And the food was amazing. Glad I discovered a new local favorite. Will be back for sure...update... went back, tried the spicy dipping udon. Wow... best meal I've had since moving to Cupertino. People are so friendly. Love this place. update... so friendly... delicious. ”

“ The oxtail broth is so fresh and savory and the karaage seasoning is amazing The noodles are fresh and chewy, great texture. ”

- Olivia -

“ Amazing ox tail udon. Very tender. I added a poached egg to it. Broth clean and not salty. We also had chicken karaage and fried whole squid, which was also tender and flavorful. If you are into udon, this is the place to get something that is different from the others. This place gets busy so it's a good idea to get there at opening. ”

“ First time dining here. It had just opened so we were sat right away. Staff were really polite and helpful. I appreciated the timing of the food drop off as we were able to enjoy each course without the others going cold or that feeling of being rushed. Food was great. Definitely coming back. Highly recommended! ”
